The landing gear extension and retraction in the F28 is hydraulically operated. During takeoff with the engines at a higher power setting, the landing gear retracts using full system pressure of 3000 psi, however, during approach with lower power settings, the landing extends using only 500psi. This leads to a retraction time of approximately 5 seconds, and an extensions time of approximately 25 seconds.
Why does the landing gear take so long to extend?
